The Inca captured the west coast of South America from the Indian tribes. Between 13th and 16th century they thrived in the same area. The Incas first started of as small groups. During the first two hundred years they remained as a small tribe. When Emperor Pachacuti died, his sons wanted to expand the empire. Under Topa's reign the empire spread to Central Chile and Northern Ecuador.
